Artist Statement:
The work completed for this show, Perspectives Through the Paint Brush, is abstract in nature and depicts visual images that she loves and speak to her heart in some fashion. Her inspiration came from the viewpoint of looking at a photograph or visual image and thus showing her original interpretive perspective of how she sees the world and things in it. The idea for the show theme stems from the stance that every single person sees things differently from their own perspective. An abstract painting can be seen in many different ways.
About the Artist:
Adrienne Sommers started out as a self-taught artist her last year in the Army and has continued to paint ever since. She currently lives in Lone Tree, Co and grew up in Hawaii and Tennessee for the most part before joining the Army. She has furthered her artistic classes at Minneapolis College of Art and Design and the Denver Students Art League, among various artist led workshops. Her favorite artist led workshop she participated in was of the late Nancy Condit, of Sand Dollar Gallery in Denver off of Pearl Street. Art is a premiere passion in her life and it is her way to feel more like herself when she is immersed in art and her connection to the beauty of life.
Adrienne’s chosen medium is oil, however she creates in watercolor and other mediums such as pastels. She is also a photographer and is currently also a part of a Veterans Photography Workshop through the Colorado Photography Arts Center, CPAC, in Denver, which will showcase a photography exhibition in January 2020. Her photography project is of American war veterans. She draws inspiration from a variety of sources such as movies and music as well as daily doses of visual art from other artists. Her favorite artists are Edgar Degas and Gustave Klimt. She prefers to paint in an abstract and expressionistic style.
She has showed work in several galleries on the Santa Fe art district to include Kanon art gallery, Kashi Kari art gallery, Grace gallery,
and the VFW Post #1. She has participated in several art auctions for good causes at both the Center for the Arts Evergreen in 100 for $100
