Bio:
Kevin Gaël Thomas was born and raised in Cannes, France where he studied on full scholarship at the prestigious Rosella Hightower’s International Ballet School. While studying ballet, he studied at the Music Conservatory where he graduated with honors in 2004. That same year he was invited as a full scholarship student to study at the renowned Canada’s National Ballet School in Toronto. Upon graduation in 2006, he started his professional career with the Houston Ballet. The following season, Ballet de Lorraine in Nancy France welcomed him in their roaster. The following year, he signed a contract with Colorado Ballet where he is still performing to this day as a soloist. In 2009, Mr. Thomas was chosen to represent France at the New-York International Ballet Competition and was selected to represent his home country in 2010 at the Olympics of Ballet for the famous Jackson USA International Ballet competition.
His most notorious roles as a professional dancer include Michael Pink’s ‘Peter Pan’, Michael Smuin’s ‘Peter and the Wolf’, Christopher Wheeldon’s ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’, Glen Tetley’s ‘Sacre du Printemps’, Jerome Robbin’s ‘Fancy Free’ and Mercutio in Derek Dean’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’.
As a choreographer, Thomas created works for Colorado Ballet and Boulder Ballet in 2015 and 2016.
The following year, he founded the Thomas Dance Project that eventually got granted the nonprofit organization status in 2019.
Many productions came to life since then such as ‘Riviera’ in 2017, ‘Home’ in 2018 and ‘Beyond Borders’ in 2019.
