For adults, we offer foundation classes, conversation classes, specialty language classes, and cultural classes.
-
Foundation classes are general French classes that cover speaking, listening, reading and writing. Students progress level by level.
Foundation classes are typically 11 weeks long with 2.5 hour classes once per week.
-
Conversation classes provide space and practice to help students increase their fluency in speaking. These classes use prompts and
activiteis to facilitate convesrsation and discussion among the class. Conversation classes are typically 11 weeks longwith
once per week classes that are 1.5-2 hours long..
-
Specialty language are classes focused on a sepcific element of French language. Examples include grammar workshops, French for
Travelers, and phonetics. These classes are shorter; 5-6 weeks with classes held once per week.
-
Cultural classes focus on some element of French or Francophone culture, for example an exploratiuon of a specific country, or of
French literature. These classes are shorter; often 4-6 weeks with classes held once per week.
Which class you should to take depends on your goals. If you are looking to improve your French over time, foundation classes are the
way to go. If you speak French, and want to brush up or keep it up, a conversation class may be a good fit. If you have a specific
goal in mind for your French studies, like travel, test prep, or improving an aspect of your language, you should look at our
available specialty classes. Culutral classes are offered the least, but if you are most interested in learning a subject through French,
look out for when these are offered.
