Explore intoxicating Immortelle from Porte Vecchio to Bonifacio.
Imagine a mountain, which has fallen from the skies into the Mediterranean Sea... In summer, the island is covered by immortelle, and exhales its enchanting scent. Experience this magical moment through the eyes of Anastasia, a passionate perfume designer.
Anastasia will first tell you about the immortelle; its story, how and where it grows. Then, she will share with you three of her favorite treks to discover the immortelle. Each hike will reveal particular facets of the flower. We will start with the maquis above Porto Vecchio, the famous Corsican scrubland, then we will explore the salt marshes of Porte Vecchio, at the mouth of river Fiume Stabiaccu. Finally, we will hike on the shores of Bonifacio and across magical the Lavezzi Islands (nature reserve). Anastasia's photographs will immerse you into the heart of Southern Corsica. You will participate in a quiz game. The answers you will find in the photographs will be the clues to unlock the scented atmosphere of each trek. You will then discover how climate, location and soil impact your perception of the immortal.
Finally, Anastasia will show you how immortelle is processed to obtain a precious "absolute" for perfume creation. She will tell you about the language of the scents and the secret messages locked in the scent of immortelle.
Anastasia wishes to bring to your home the beauty and poetry of Corsica in full bloom and inspire your to visit it yourself one day!
Each participant will receive an envelope containing the material for the trek:
- one dried immortelle flower from Corsica,
- one paper-strip infused with immortelle "absolu",
- one paper-strip infused with Djélem, a Sulékó perfume composed with immortelle.
This shall allow you to discover the facets of the flower at its various stages: when it is natural, when it is distilled and when it is composed by a perfume designer to narrate a story.
NOTE: it is important to not open the envelope before the class.
