DELF - DALF

Diplôme d'études en langue française / Diplôme approfondi de langue française

The DELF / DALF exams consist of 6 independent diplomas, each corresponding to one of the 6 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference. Each diploma can be obtained independently of each other, in the same country or in a different country. These exams are French language proficiency tests for non-native speakers of French who wish to have their proficiency level certified for professional, academic or personal reasons.

The DELF / DALF certificates are recognized anywhere in the world. They are to the French language what the Cambridge Certificate proficiency tests are to English.

The results do not expire with time.

Please consider the time period necessary to receive the certificate (around 3 weeks) if you want to apply to a school or for immigration purposes.

A $12 administrative fee is added to the cost of the test. Once received in our premises, we will mail your certificate to the address you provide on your registration form.

WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE OF THE EXAMINATION?

Each DELF/DALF exam evaluates the following four language skills: oral comprehension, reading comprehension, writing production, and oral production.

See the table below for general information about total test length and typical start times (subject to change). While the end times will vary based on the number of people in the exam session, typically all speaking exams are completed by 3:30 on the day of the exam. You will get more information regarding when exactly you will be finished when you receive your speaking exam times. Click here for the Official DELF/DALF website for more detailed information about test length, tests descriptions and practice tests.

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH LEVEL I SHOULD TAKE?

Candidates can take the exam(s) at any level without placement test, but we advise you to contact us prior to the registration to self-assess. The result of the exam is either a PASS or a FAIL for the level you selected. A grade of at least 50/100 is required in order to be awarded the diploma. Make sure you choose the right level before signing up.

If you are 15 or younger, please check our DELF Junior and DELF Prim dates and fees. . The description level remains the same, for levels going from A1 to B2.
